Today’s communication systems require more precise network synchronization and holdover performance. With the transition to 5G and beyond, packet-based networks makes sync technology more challenging as they do not naturally deliver synchronization. Similarly, with the development of today’s smart power grid, network synchronization precision is playing an ever-increasing important role calling for ultra-high precision timing synchronization and holdover capability.

The network’s ability to maintain time or holdover is critical so selecting a well thought out strategy is the first step. Taitien’s brand new ultra-high precision DT-6565 Disciplined Crystal Oscillator will be an ideal solution. By combining the best of class precision oscillators with a proprietary adaptive algorithm, Taitien’s DT-6565 series achieve the standard of atomic-based oscillator performance. This series is engineered to control its internal phase error to within 1 ns (RMS) through disciplining to an external one pulse per second (1PPS) signal broadcast by GPS.It offers an excellent frequency output with an accuracy reaching < ±10-12 and its holdover ability reaching < ±1.5 us within 24 hours.

Taitien releases the highest performance DOCXO – NI-10M-3500 series

Taitien, a leading provider of frequency control solutions, has introduced the NI-10M-3500 series which is one of the highest performances Double Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator (DOCXOs) at 10 MHz in the industry. The new NI-10M-3500 series is capable of providing tight frequency stability of ±0.1 ppb over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and ±0.05 over -10°C to 70°C. The DOCXO is in a hermetically sealed industry standard package with a foot print of 36.3 mm x 27.2 mm and a maximum height of 18.7 mm.

The NI-10M-3400 series is ideally suited for applications demanding high-precision frequency and timing requirements such as a Primary Reference Clock for network timing or as a locked local reference in GPS Disciplined Clock. Taitien, a leading supplier of frequency control solutions, has launched the ultra-low power consumption Disciplined Crystal Oscillator DTQ-101. DTQ-101 offers atomic clock level precision and stability while achieving miniature size and ultra-low power consumption. This series controls its internal phase error within 1 ns (RMS) by disciplining to the 1 PPS signal of the external GPS. In addition, it delivers excellent frequency output accuracy of < ± 10-12 and holdover capability reaching < ± 1.5 us within 24 hours.

DTQ-101’s typical ultra-low power consumption performance of 60 mW makes it particularly suitable for situations that require long-term use or with supply power difficulties such as underwater landform detection and oil and gas exploration. Background:
During the development of these ultra-compact replacement streetlights, the design required a connection between internal PCBs to use a horizontal spring contact for easy manufacturing.

The Challenge:
These streetlight heads add public WiFi from 4G/5G reception to communal areas – but using existing light poles means the head unit must still be compact, lightweight and self-contained, ready to install.

Harwin Solution:
By using the multi-directional spring contact in the horizontal orientation, both space and weight is saved in comparison to pogo pin connections. Board-to-board connection is fast and easy during production.

 

Hyperboloid Technology + Creative Engineers = A Custom Fit and Problems Solved!

Situation:
Applications on the FA-18 fighter jet and the Cheetah M-ATV utilized ARINC connectors mated with circuit boards.

• A mechanism to provide an easier installation of dozens of discrete contacts onto a PCB was needed.
• More ruggedized contacts able to withstand the continuous exposure to high shock and vibration while offering lower insertion force were required.

Solution:
IEH engineers designed press-fit Hyperboloid Contacts encased in a pin carrier to allow a one-step installation onto a PCB. This saved assembly time and provided the uninterrupted connectivity performance associated with Hyperboloid technology, a necessity in harsh environments.
